Commission Seeks Volunteers to Review Drafts of Legal Analysis Report

The Oceans Act of 2000 mandates that, among other things, the Commission provide the following: A review of the cumulative effect of Federal laws and regulations on United States ocean and coastal activities and resources and an examination of those laws and regulations for inconsistencies and contradictions that might adversely affect those ocean and coastal activities and resources, and recommendations for resolving such inconsistencies to the extent practicable. Such review shall also consider conflicts with State ocean and coastal management regimes. Public Law 106-256 § 3 (f) (C) (2000).

To meet this charge, the Sea Grant Law Center at the University of Mississippi School of Law, is assisting the Commission in carrying out a process that engages a number of marine law and policy experts who offer the experience and ability to produce a legal analysis report. As part of this process, we would like to identify reviewers from the public, private, and nongovernmental sectors -- as well as from academia -- who are willing to review and comment on the drafts. If you would like to be added to this list, or you would like to recommend someone, send an e-mail to Laura Cantral. We value your input in helping us produce an effective and coherent report.
